At every stage of life, society imposes various constraints, most of which are not favorable for the growth of an individual. Overcoming such restrictions at the right time would probably be the best thing that you can do for yourself. There are a variety of perceptions that your community would have about you when you start up your solo traveling journey. Some people would be encouraging while others would act as a preventive force.

Would love to share my experience of solo traveling. Just like any normal teenager, I was equally nervous and had all nebulous thoughts in my head when I traveled solo for the very first time.

Wanna know what solo traveling taught me about the world and myself?

  • Not all strangers are toxic

When we travel to different countries, we get to meet people of different cultures and traditions. Some locals are even dressed in a way that makes them appear scary to us and we feel afraid of talking to them. The unfamiliar appearance gives rise to the discomfort that does not even exist in reality. However, when I happened to discover the fact that the people I was fearing were actually really nice when I began to communicate with them.

It is most important to know that communication is the only way that helps us to know a person in a better way. Judging someone on the basis of their attire is wrong and you must never do this. I certainly realized the faces that were scaring me turned out to be helping hands during the solo excursion to this unknown place. When I look back, I see all the pleasant memories with them. One thing I can affirm is one must learn to accept the different people along with appreciating their differences.

  • Challenging societal norms lead to true growth

Entitling yourself as a solo traveler requires committing to yourself that you do not have to do stuff that everyone else has been already doing for their survival. As per the society, the roles have been decided for the genders and age has been assigned for a particular role. When you travel or explore the world, you get to know that it requires something which is not your corporate job, a family with kids, and a settled life with the 9–5 grind. Rather, it literally changes your point of view towards life and you learn to understand what is needed in reality to make this world a better place to live.

You develop as a good human who observes each element while visiting different places and recognizes the entities that are required to be changed for the future. While exploring the world as a solo traveler, you begin to empower yourself at developing your own normals rather than relying on society to plop the usual rusty ones on you.

  • Confidence and independence are the keys to success

While exploring a number of places on your nomadic journey as a solo traveler, you get to experience different shades of life. Some shades could be pleasant while the others could be awful too. No matter what, you keep on doing what you have decided and sooner you would feel an awesome change within yourself. There would be a great boost of confidence gushing through your bloodstreams. Visiting new places, you would come across people of different cultures, traditions as well as mindsets. Exploring the variety everywhere, you would learn how to tackle each personality and be presentable all the time. This sounds like a wonderful opportunity to gain immense confidence in dealing with various things in life.

Being all alone in your solo journey, there will be a need to do all the chores yourself. When you drain financially or emotionally, there would be no one but you who would require to balance yourself. In each aspect of your journey, there will be utter independence that you would have to inculcate in yourself.

Getting these values deep-rooted in you could be the biggest achievement in self and here begins the path of making huge alterations in life. Once you know you have adopted it well, there would be no force to drag you down. All you would be able to see is success and prosperity.

  • Extensive expansion of comfort zone

A Comfort zone is something that impedes an individual to grow. Here, we take growth as overcoming the fears, believing in ourselves, and learning to say no to the rigid and not so important norms of society. When you stay in your comfort zone, you often find it difficult to challenge or push yourself towards a new opportunity in life. Also, we fear doing numerous things that we haven’t done up till now.

When you think of expanding your comfort zone, you actually say a warm hello to the wonderful events that have been waiting for you these years. Traveling solo gives you a fair chance to root out the deeply hidden fear forever. This is because, when you travel alone the only person you think of relying on is no one but yourself. So, over a period of time, you make yourself comfortable with all the happenings around you.

  • The world is a beautiful place

An expanded comfort zone would make you feel peaceful anywhere, even if the place is crammed with enormous hassle. Making the whole world your home and people of different cultures, communities, and localities your relatives is a blissful change you can bring about in yourself. If you do so, you would see everything with a positive perspective, realizing our world is a beautiful place to spend a lifetime.

Soaking in the natural and real wonders of the earth, acknowledging each living thing as God’s precious gift to us, respecting each other’s differences, and appreciating the similarities is all that we want to become better humans.

It was really overwhelming to share my experiences with you all and would be really grateful if this piece was helpful for you. Thank you for the read!
